Translate text to Morse code and Morse code back to English instantly. Supports letters, numbers and punctuation.
This Morse code translator converts plain English into Morse code and decodes Morse code back into readable text. Type in the left panel and the translation appears immediately — there's no button to press and nothing is sent to a server. Use the swap button to flip direction and feed the output straight back in as input.
Morse code encodes each character as a sequence of short signals (dots, written .) and long signals (dashes, written -). Developed in the 1830s for telegraph transmission, it remains in active use today by amateur radio operators, aviation navigation beacons, and as an accessibility input method. The most famous sequence is SOS — ... --- ... — chosen precisely because it is unmistakable even through heavy interference.
The spacing rules matter when you decode. A single space separates letters, and a forward slash (or a triple space) separates words. This Morse code translator accepts both conventions when decoding, and outputs slash-separated words when encoding so the result is unambiguous wherever you paste it. Full punctuation support is included, covering periods, commas, question marks, the at sign and more.
