Bionic reading is a formatting technique that bolds the first few letters of each word. Those bolded openings act as fixation points: your eyes jump between them and your brain completes the rest of the word from memory, so you spend less time decoding and more time understanding. It costs nothing to try and takes one paste.
Use the fixation slider to control how much of each word is emphasised. A light setting (around 30%) is subtle and comfortable for long articles; a heavy setting (around 70%) gives a stronger rhythm that some readers with ADHD or dyslexia prefer. The preview font size is adjustable too, because line length and size affect skim speed as much as the bolding does.
Worth being honest about the evidence: independent studies have found mixed results, and bionic reading does not reliably increase comprehension for everyone.
